
The CHESHIRE CAT was immortalised by Lewis Carrol in Alice In
Wonderland, but the legendary grinning creature was enshrined
in folklore long before the book was published in 1865.
The
origin of the cat is lost in the mists of time, but many think
that it was derived from the early heraldry of Cheshire. Mediaeval
artists trying to depict snarling lions which they had never seen,
instead drew animals, which turned out looking incredibly like
grinning cats.
What
ever the explanation, the CHESHIRE CAT with its contented smile,
looks remarkably like...
